Journal Peer Reviewers

At TARC we hold the firm believe that peer review is the foundational basis upon which the quality and integrity of scientific and scholarly research is safeguarded and upheld. This stems from the importance that peer review has, when it comes to evaluating the viability, cogency, resourcefulness and uniqueness of articles before publication. Our objective is to enhance the probity of scholarly articles through making recommendations and offering guidance on how to come up with authoritative, high quality and publishable articles that have the capacity to influence both the academic and policy framework under consideration.

We acknowledge the fact that the review process may vary from one journal to another. In order to ensure that our review process is as quality as possible, we utilize the double-blind review system, in which the reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and the authors do not know the identity of the reviewer. Based on a variety of factors and at the discretion of the editor, the number of reviewers can be varied to meet the demands of the article in question. The Editor has the final decision with regards all submissions.

As a result, therefore, the consortium undertakes to do everything possible in order to support reviewers and to recognize their contribution. This is why we’ve created these guidelines. They’re part of our broader goal to facilitate the review experience for journals – and help safeguard the integrity of the research we publish.

Training

The consortium is in the process of establishing a comprehensive and elaborate training framework through partnerships with reputable professional training institutions, in order to ensure high-quality training in select areas of law and policy.

From our pool of professionals with extensive and far-reaching experience in legal and policy research, the consortium aims to offer and or facilitate professional training through collaboration with a multidimensional pool of stakeholders, in diverse areas of law and policy research such as alternative dispute resolution, corporate governance, policy formulation and research, Legal audit, board performance evaluations among others.

In formulating, facilitating and effecting its training mandate, the institution seeks to incorporate mainstream, contemporary and modern frameworks with a view of achieving high-end results, which will be reflected in the performance appraisals of the people who pass through our hands.

Legal Policy Research and Analysis

TARC recognises the purpose of legal research policy and analysis as a process aimed at addressing, more in-depth, a particular problem, to examine the arguments related to a concerned policy, and to analyze the implementation of the policy. Through policy research and analysis, TARC seeks to stimulate wider comprehensive debate on the given issues via presenting informed policy-relevant choices and recommendations to the key stakeholders and parties of interest.
TARC legal and policy research programme seeks to have four major objectives:

• To establish a credible all-rounded capacity for policy-oriented research

• To avail research results for use by policy analysts, policy makers and interested stakeholders

• To create, enhance, facilitate and promote justiciable links between research and policy

• To facilitate the acquisition, create capacity for and retention of high-quality researchers

Through the desire and dedication for the above objectives, the programme has created capacity and enhanced the potential through which the researchers’ skills can be effectively harnessed and utilized with a view of supporting the development of the programme through a consequent expansion of professional opportunities by facilitating the exposure of their work to the world, both locally and internationally, and hence linking them with policymakers all over the world.
